We are able to offer a range of support services to help you reach your own healthy goal to help you be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.

The Trust is supporting staff in their health and wellbeing by providing the next phase of the successful Weight Management programme in conjunction with Slimming World.

To qualify for free membership and 12-week programme to Slimming World your BMI must be above 25. If you have made your decision to lose weight, and only you can, now is the time to apply. Please email stuart.hossack@wmas.nhs.uk  with the following information: Weight, Height, Age and your home address.

 

This voucher entitles you to free membership of Slimming World and 12 weeks free attendance at a group of your choice. So far over 800 staff have embarked on their weight journey, losing a staggering 8500lbs over 12 weeks. WMAS is the most successful Trust for volume of weight lost by our staff. Staff who have undertaken the programme have often carried on with Slimming World after their 12 weeks investing in their own health. This has obvious other benefits that the whole family eats healthier.

NHS Digital Weight Management Programme

NHS staff are now able to sign up to the NHS Digital Weight Management Programme. This is a brand-new service for people who would like to lose weight and improve their health and wellbeing. Those staff who have a BMI of 30 or greater (or 27.5 or greater for staff from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic groups), can now access a free, online 12-week weight management programme which is personally tailored to support their journey to a healthier lifestyle.

What does the NHS Digital Weight Management Programme involve? 

The programme will support you to lose weight, become more active and to eat in a healthier way, with a range of digital services available on your smartphone, tablet or computer. The amount of exercise involved is flexible according to your needs and level of fitness. There are many ways to stay active and the goal is to find an enjoyable form of physical activity that works for you.

Depending on the provider you choose, the programme will feature:

  • bespoke lifestyle plans
  • physical activity programmes
  • in-app support
  • learning modules and quizzes, podcasts, webinars, exercise videos, blogs, recipes and articles (catering to cultural dietary/exercise needs)
  • health tracker/ daily planner to set, monitor and achieve goals
